Akinz Pedal-Powered Delivery Is Here To Stay!

To celebrate Bike to Work Day 2010, the Akinz team made history by being the first Fort Collins clothing company to deliver orders by bike. The effort was a huge success, and we enjoyed meeting Akinz customers all over the city while raising money for a worthy non-profit, the Fort Collins Bike Co-op.

Because we had so much fun as bike-commuters for a day, we wondered “why mess with a good thing?”

That’s right, “bike delivery” is now a permanent option for Akinz-lovers living in the Fort Collins, Colorado area as long as the weather allows (although we might swap our wheels for boards when the snow falls!) Instead of continuing to offer free bike shipping, we’ll be charging standard shipping costs for bike delivery and then donating the shipping money spent to a charity that you choose.

Here’s how it works: Each month we post a poll on the Akinz website asking people to nominate their favorite local charity. Once the votes are tallied, all bike delivery charges ($2.50 per delivery) for the month will go towards the chosen charity. The Bike Delivery Area will stay the same for now (Vine to Harmony/Taft Hill to Timberline) but we may expand depending on demand (and fitness level!).

Bike deliveries will happen once a week, so delivery time from order is anywhere between same day and 6 days… most likely shorter.
