Next week, the 19th of July, the ladies from Articulate City (a great Fort Collins art community) are rounding up their pARTiers to come over to the Akinz showroom to print some of their own t-shirts, drink some booze, snack on some yumminess and hang out. Here’s what they have to say about the event:

“If you haven’t heard about Suzanne Akin’s awesome screen-print tee shirts, get ready to get educated. Articulate City has partnered with Akinz Boardwear to host a screen-printing extravaganza at the new Akinz studio. Event-goers will meet on bike in Old Town Square and then ride over to the store’s location. Afterall, Akinz Boardwear is all about biking and reducing your carbon footprint! For those not privy to two-wheels, feel free to meet us there.

Upon arrival, guests will be able to sip cocktails and snack on appetizers. You’ll be able to mingle with fellow Articulate City members as well as others from the Fort Collins community, while printing your own Akinz tee! You can choose your own ink and tee shirt colors. Get creative! To top it off, you’ll be using a brand new custom design, which will be kept secret until closer to the event date. (Keep up with us on Facebook for clues.)

]]> Northern Colorado bike month is back and that means so are our Bike Tees and Bike Delivery programs! The bike to work tee were so successful last year that we made several different bike t-shirt design options for you this year! You can see them all in our featured bike t-shirt product page. As last year, $2 of each Bike to Work t-shirt sold will be donated to the Fort Collins Bike Co-op.

Plus, now that we are in the month of June, local Fort Collins shoppers can choose to have their order delivered “By Bike” during checkout. This offers free shipping and we will personally bike your order to your house on Bike to Work Day, June 22nd. If the demand is there, we will be keeping Bike Delivery available as an option for the rest of the summer as well.

]]> So… space is finally somewhat starting to come together, which is great considering the party is tomorrow. (umm… not ready). But, I thought I’d share some of the new stuff with you guys. Most importantly, we have a mini-fridge! And it is stocked with the essentials (AKA: lots of beer, a few Dr. Peppers, boxed wine, and LOTS of cheese balls).

One of the challenges we had as far as screen printing in the new space is that there wasn’t a separate room that we could use as a darkroom to make screens, so our solution was to build a light proof screen drying cabinet to store screens and use UV safe lighting when the cabinet was open or we were coating them. This kinda tested Bumpas’ carpentry skills. He worked on it for over a week straight, but he got it finished a few weeks ago so I could start printing summer stuff. And now, I finally painted it a couple days ago.

Everything is finally starting to come together… just in time. Now I just might have time to finish some of the shirts I wanted to print for the party. More updates as the day goes on!

]]> Commuter Tee in the window at The Wright Life, Fort Collins, COSo… Fort Collins bike to work day was last Wednesday the 23rd and I am just now getting around to talking about how amazing it was! Started the day sharing Toolbox Creative’s breakfast station with some yummy breakfast bake. Spotted our Commuter tee in the window of The Wright Life! Woot! We had a table set up with the commuter t-shirts benefitting the Fort Collins Bike Co-op and some people even stopped by wearing their commuter tees just to show their support!

Then we were off to make our bike deliveries, as promised. Started the day super-focused and fast and then around the time we realized we only had 2 bike deliveries left to make, we got a little sad that it was coming to a close. We were having so much fun seeing sides of Fort Collins that we normally wouldn’t and enjoying the sunshine. That’s why we decided to KEEP BIKE DELIVERY! Woohoo! Yep, that’s right… we are going to continue offering bike delivery to the Fort Collins area as long as weather allows. Who knows, I may even get brave and deliver by bike in the wintry months. But, for now, it will be available until further notice and can be expected to be delivered one day a week, the day depending on the weather conditions.

But, the best part about the bike deliveries is this: Instead of continuing to offer free bike shipping, we will be charging standard shipping costs for bike delivery and donating the shipping money spent to a charity that you choose. Each month I will be asking you to submit your favorite local Fort Collins charity and let the local public vote on which one we donate the money to for a month.

So, of course, you have from now until the end of June to buy a commuter t-shirt for the $2 to go to the Fort Collins Bike Co-op and then we’ll start on the next charity on the 1st! Please submit your favorite local Fort Collins charity by commenting it on this blog post.
