Ashley Battersby

Ashley Battersby is a killer skier from the midwest who has been skiing since they could fit her feet into ski boots. At 18 months old, she started learning and she’s been skiing ever since. She moved out to Park City in 2002 and has taken over the female skiing scene in the last couple years. Ashley is lucky enough to be heading off to Mt Hood and then Switzerland for the summer, but we grabbed a couple questions from her before she’s off to jetset.

That’s a lot of time to rack up injuries… how many have you had?

I’ve had about 7 surgeries all just from skiing. A bunch on my hand, 2nd metacarpal in my left hand, UCL in my left thumb, ACL, MCL and meniscus in my left knee, ACL in my right knee. I also have had quiet a few black eyes and stitches in my mouth. I thank God even through all the rough times of getting over an injury, that I still am able to be healthy enough to ski for a living! Injuries are defiantly hard to get your atrophied muscle back physically but I think it is even more of a challenge for your mentality to get back. To me, 99% of your sport is mental.

What is your favorite Akinz item?

Either the freebird tunic tank (LOVE the feathers) or the hoodie dress

What is it about skiing that gets you excited?

The feeling of not knowing, the crazy feeling that goes throughout your entire body because you’re about to drop into the biggest gnarliest slopestyle course, or do a new trick, or drop off a gnarly cliff, there’s no words to explain that feeling

What trick do you plan on working on this summer?

Secret!

Best trick in your pocket?

I really enjoy 450′s off cannon rails and I love sw 7′s
